About
Biography
Johor Bahru's first professional Chinese orchestra, rooted on the Johor Strait, bridging East and West and linking Malaysia and Singapore. Formally established on 2 June 2026 and based at the Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House on the shores of the Johor Strait, the orchestra is committed to heritage and cross-genre innovation. It brings together professional Malaysian Chinese-music performers to produce and present high-quality concerts, discovers the character, timbres and talent of local Chinese music, and builds a cultural bridge with Malaysian musicians working in Singapore.
Our mission is to advance the professionalisation of Chinese music in Malaysia and to deepen the cultural roots of Johor Bahru — this is not only the birth of an orchestra, but the beginning of a city's cultural infrastructure.
